Florida's construction licensing guidance says that paid work such as installing a dishwasher connected to drinking water or replacing a water heater requires a licensed contractor, and that a local business tax receipt or certificate of competency may also apply; it does not describe a separate state appliance repair license. In Florida, you can check a license with the DBPR Verify a License (MyFloridaLicense.com) or report a problem to the Florida Attorney General, Office of Citizen Services / Consumer Protection.
